On the first night of Pesach, as we sit at our seder table surrounded by family and friends, is when we realise that we are in fact all educators at heart without ever having applied for the position! In the words of Maimonides: “(On seder night) even if one does not have a child, and even great Sages, are obligated to tell about the Exodus from Egypt.” (Mishneh Torah, Laws of Chametz and Matza, 7:1). That is to say that seder night is not just for the kids (although if they are there, they become central to the process). Everyone has the responsibility to be educated and to be an educator!
In this four-part series of webinars, facilitated by Yesod’s Director of Educational Programming, Dr. Daniel Rose, we will explore the core themes of the haggadah and how we can make them more engaging and interactive for the participants around our table on seder night. We will explore the power and meaning behind the structural aspects of seder night as much as mining the deeper meaning behind the text of the haggadah. Bring an open mind for new ideas and your favourite haggadah!
While you are encouraged to attend all sessions, each one will stand alone, and missing one will not prevent your participation in the sessions that follow.
